Average Patent Pendency Time

The Patent Application backlog decreased in 2012 with 608,456  Pending Patent Applications in October 2012 and the Average Patent Pendency Time decreased in 2012 to 32.4 months (does not include Design Patents which have a much shorter pendency of approximately 15 months).


Pendency time varies by Tech Center with TC 2800-Semiconductor, Electrical, Optical Systems & Components having the shortest average pendency at 29.8 months and Tech Center 2400 - Networks, Multiplexing, Cable & Security having the longest average pendency at 41.1 months in FY 2012.
